Suzume Iwato

A kind and polite - yet headstrong - high-school girl who lives with her aunt in Tonami, Miyazaki Prefecture, Kyushu. She has recurring dreams of her younger self wandering through a field, surrounded by ruins of a city, trying to find her mother. ~!After accidentally freeing a disastrous force of nature and peering into the mysterious land of Ever-After (常世), she ends up embarking on a journey across Japan in an attempt to seal it, at the same time gradually learning more about the true nature of her strange visions.!~ She seems to have great admiration for her mother, who was a nurse, studying medicine books and holding onto a small chair she made for Suzume's fourth birthday in 2010. ~!As it turns out, she's constantly repressing memories of her mother's death on March 11th in the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, having even blacked out pages from her childhood sketchbook that detailed the event, burying it in a metal box near the ruins of her childhood home.!~
