Coming from a family of educators, he started as a high school student writing for La Voix du Nord. After earning his baccalaureate, he moved to Paris and began his journalism career with La Tribune des Nations and Détective, while learning radio from François Chalais and Jacques Paoli. Initially a civil engineer, he left that career in 1981 to fully dedicate himself to journalism. He joined Radio France Vaucluse, then France Inter, before helping launch France Info in 1987. Later, he worked for RTL and LCI. In 1999, he became Jean-Pierre Pernaut’s stand-in on TF1’s 1 PM News.
