Edgar Walker (August 28, 1917 – October 28, 2011) was an American World War II veteran, businessman, publisher, and writer. He was a member of "Castner's Cutthroats," an elite reconnaissance unit in the Aleutian Islands. Born in San Juan Bautista, California, he enlisted in the Army in 1937 and developed a passion for Alaska, where he joined Castner's Cutthroats. The unit played a key role during the Aleutian Islands campaign in the war. After the war, he settled in Alaska, co-founded a construction company, and contributed to Valdez's reconstruction after the 1964 earthquake. He also served on the city council during the construction of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. Walker published a newspaper, Walker’s Weekly, and wrote several books, including Twenty Women Who Made America Great. He participated in a 2008 exhibit honoring Castner's Cutthroats. Married to Frances Park in 1944, he had four children, including Bill Walker, elected Governor of Alaska in 2014. Walker spent his final years in a veterans’ home in Palmer, Alaska, where he passed away at age 94.
